Dozier, James E. of Minneapolis, 68. With heavy hearts we mourn the loss of this gentle soul on December 28, 2017. Jim is celebrated and forever remembered by his wife Marcia Frankenberg, daughter Leah (Mark Krumpholz), grandchildren Ethan and Zoe Krumpholz, sister Rosemary Donovan and family, brother Chris Dozier and family, and many friends. Born and raised in Durham, NC, Jim graduated from Rice University with double degrees in Art and Architecture. Over two decades he built a thriving photography program at Film in the Cities, whose gallery served as a launch pad for many talented artists. The second half of his career was dedicated to teaching in the School of Architecture at the University of Minnesota, where he also served as the Exhibition Coordinator for the HGA Gallery in Rapson Hall. As a champion for freedom of expression, Jim had a deep appreciation for the arts, music and books. He was a passionate photographer, architect and a creative contributor to the Minnesota arts community. His curiosity and lust for learning fostered deep knowledge; he was a beloved teacher and mentor to many. He will be remembered for his patience, kindness and genuine nature. A humble Eagle Scout, Jim was an avid swimmer, tennis player, and cyclist on his beloved 45-year-old Peugeot. He was a dedicated St. Paul Saints fan, and his love for aviation, airplanes and flight ran deep. A scrabble enthusiast, he celebrated not only his own victories, but his opponents' just the same. He lived in the present and took great pleasure savoring his experiences traveling the world, enjoying good food and wine, watching Duke basketball, and of course, time with his family. Our hearts ache for our loss, but we are deeply grateful for the time we shared with our devoted husband, father and Pop Pop. Jim, from stardust you were created and to the stars you have returned enfolded in their light and peace forever. Donations in his memory can be made to Lewy Body Dementia Association (lbda.org).
