4-H STEM Day Camps. Exciting things are
planned for K-6!! Youth should be ready to discover three different exciting
topics this summer as they become investigators and detectives, doing
experiments, projects, crafts and some guaranteed messy fun, while making new
friends and building relationships with our camp counselors and staff.
The
three science discovery topics/themes for this year include:
●
Animals on the Farm (June 6) How many
farm animals have you met up close in person? Have you held or touched
different farm animals? Do you know the types of foods the different animals
provide? The 4-H Camp Counselors are super excited to bring their animals for
you to meet and learn about at this day camp. We plan to have a cow, sheep,
goat, llama, chicken and a rabbit. You will find out how to raise these
animals, show them at the county fair and find out interesting things you may
never have known about them. We will also learn about zoonotic, as you become a
disease detective.
●
Hawaiian Color Explosion (June 13) Aloha! Have
you been to a Luau? Eaten fruit kabobs? Do you know how many active volcanoes
are in the United States or how the Hawaiian Islands were formed? Come to this
tropical camp, where you will make flower leis, eat fruit kabobs, listen to
Hawaiian music, make tiki totem poles, explore seashells, create lanterns and
much more. You will learn how volcanoes erupt. You will even experiment with
different types of volcanic colorful explosions and learn how to do them at
home.
●
Engineering/Construction
Exploration (June 20) Have you had any experience building? Have you made a catapult to
send objects flying? Have you tested the strength of a bridge? At this camp,
you will imagine, plan, build, test and modify designs to make them work
better. You will build different bridges and test their strength, design
different tracks to create a ski jump and construct several different types of
catapults to see which will send objects flying the furthest. Come with your
engineering thinking hat on to investigate the best way make your machine
function the best.
Day Camps are ….
