Gophers Sign Two New Recruits to 2022-23 Signing Class

Sofia Pizzoni and Anet Koskel round out Minnesota's roster for the upcoming season.
MINNEAPOLIS - The Golden Gophers Tennis program and head coach Catrina Thompson have officially signed new recruits, Anet Koskel and Sofia Pizzoni, to the 2022-23 freshmen signing class.
Koskel and Pizzoni, both native Europeans, join the program's long list of international players to wear Maroon and Gold. The two will be strong assets to the team, both athletically and academically.
Koskel, a native of Estonia, was the doubles winner at the Estonian Championship for three consecutive years from 2018-20. She was also the winner of the U18 Estonian Championship in 2018 and 2021.
Pizzoni, a native of Italy, was the winner of the U16 Tennis Europe tournament in Albania and the U18 Tennis Europe tournament in Kenya. She was also the U18 doubles champion in Croatia, Malta and Albania. In 2016, Pizzoni was the U14 Champion at the Lemon Bowl - a notable tournament for rising tennis players in Italy.
Coach Thompson remarks on the two new additions to the squad, "We are excited to have Sofia and Anet joining the program and are looking forward to seeing the contributions they will make to the team this season. They will be arriving in Minneapolis soon and we can't wait for the opportunity to start working with them on campus."
