Assistantship Description
Communication assistants typically register for 3 credits per semester that can be applied toward their internship, health content/skills, or electives requirement. The commitment is 8 hours per week over 2 semesters, serving the first semester as a mentee, and the second semester as mentor.
Primary responsibilities include: collaborating with the communication team to create a media calendar, manage social media pages, develop social media content, communicate with students/alumni/faculty/staff, plan and promote special events, and other duties and trainings as assigned. The team also meets on a weekly basis.
Qualifications include: successful completion of HLTH 3300, ability to apply design elements and principles for effective design, understanding of design and technology terminology, time management, high quality work, initiative, giving/receiving feedback, and ethical behavior.

January
The month of January consisted of welcoming students back to classes as the spring semester began. Student and alumni features were also shared, along with promoting overall health and well-being with ideas on how to stay active and healthy!

In the month of March, we had our collaboration project with the HLTH 3300 students! This year, the collaboration post was Saint Patrick's Day-themed. The rest of March focused on more health promotion related content.

Meet the communication assistants
My name is Emily Iverson, and I am a senior in the Public Health Program. This semester has been my second semester serving as a communication assistant, and I am so thankful for all of the new communication skills that I have learned! Alongside my communication assistantship, I was also the Public Relations Coordinator for the Public Health Student Group! I am looking forward to stepping into the working world!
Hello! My name is Molly Johnson, and I am a senior in the Public Health program. I am also pursuing a minor in Health and Wellness Coaching. This semester I am serving as one of the Public Health Communication Assistants and the Project Coordinator for Dr. Gray's smoking cessation research. I am also on the Public Health Student Advisory Team. My health interests include community health, women's health, health equity, and health communication. I am passionate about working with underserved communities and providing health services to those in need.
