Hosted by the UMD Department of Music - the 7th Annual Flute Day is an event geared towards advanced middle school. high school students and adults.  The event will feature a flute choir, masterclass and performance by Dr. Paula Gudmundson, Assistant Professor of Flute at the University of Minnesota Duluth.  The day concludes with a free concert  at 4pm open to the public.

Dr. Paula Gudmundson
Assistant Professor of Flute
University of Minnesota Duluth

Flutist, Paula Gudmundson is Assistant Professor of Flute at the University of Minnesota Duluth.  She has performed at numerous music festivals and events, including regional and national conferences of the College Music Society, National Flute Association conventions, Minnesota Public Radio’s Class Notes Artist, International Flute Festival of Costa Rica and La Côte Flûte Festival.
 
Upcoming performances include the premier of a newly commissioned work by Icelandic composer and flutist Berglind Tomasdottir, a Midwest Tour featuring newly recorded works and an upcoming exhibition featuring Art, Nature, and Music at the Duluth Arts Institute in December 2019.   Her forthcoming CD focuses on music by Scandinavian women composers and will be released fall 2019. This project has been made possible by Grant-in-Aid of Research, Artistry, and Scholarship awards from the Office of the Vice President for Research at the University of Minnesota.
