Study & Prepare for the written UAS certification exam: $550.00

Cost of workshop includes a box lunch for both days, the 2019 UAS Test Prep Study Guide, and in-class instruction. Written exam is not included in this workshop.

In Class Instruction: Minnesota Room, Sargeant Student Center (Saturday & Sunday)
Class Capacity: 15 participants, must have 10 to deliver the class.
Registration Deadline: March 15, 2019 - 4:30 p.m.

*If you cancel within 24 hours of registration, you will be refunded 75% of the registration fee ($412.50).
NO refunds will be granted for cancellations requested after 24 hours of registration. 


For this particular workshop, both sessions will be hosted indoors.

About this Workshop

The purpose of this course is to prepare first-time pilots for the Unmanned Aircraft General – Small (UAG)
FAA Written Exam. Passing this exam will certify each participant as a small Unmanned Aircraft System
(sUAS) pilot. The classroom portion will cover the knowledge areas listed in the Remote Pilot Airmen Certification
Standards, which include:

  • 14 CFR Part 107 Regulations
  • Airspace
  • Aviation weather sources and weather effects on sUAS
  • Aircraft loading and performance
  • Radio Communications
  • Airport Operations
  • Emergency Procedures
  • Aeronautical Decision Making
  • Physiology
  • Maintenance and Inspection Procedures

All portions of this course will be taught by certified UAS pilots that are also manned aviation instructors. While similar courses
prepare you to pass the FAA Written Exam only, our goal is to make participants well-rounded, knowledgeable,
and safety oriented Remote Pilots.


About the Instructor

Jason Bensley, Commercial Pilot and Certified Flight Instructor
Education: University of North Dakota, Bachelors of Science in Commercial Aviation and UAS Operation
Pilot Experience: Commercial Pilot with Multi-Engine and Instrument Ratings, Certified Flight Instructor – Airplane Single
Engine and Instrument, Certified Remote Pilot.
Flight Instruction 700 hrs Total Time
Experience 400 hrs of Flight Instruction given and 25 hrs of MQ-1 Predator Simulator Instruction.

Bio: Jason graduated from the University of North Dakota in 2017 with a double major in Commercial Aviation and Unmanned Aircraft Systems Operation. He is the current Site Manager of the UND/UMC Flight Training Center.
