WAM Virtual Teacher Institute: The Art of Making Meaning
Tuesday, June 22, 2021 through Thursday, June 24, 2021 9am-3pm
While this workshop is entirely online, participants in the Teacher Institute will consider pathways for equitable access to art and literacy in both face-to-face and online settings. Educators will explore links between art, writing and creativity in their own teaching alongside community artists, including Marcus Young and Robin Hickman, and experience new strategies to meet the following goals:
*Explore themes of art, writing, and identity
*Design practical plan for implementing art and writing within online or face-to-face curriculum
*Open to teachers of all disciplines and specialties and of students in all grade levels
Earn 18 CEU's
Fee: $175.00*
*To increase diversity of participants and benefit all participants in the course, there is a reduced rate available if you identify as a teacher of color. The reduced rate is $125.00.
This workshop is online, including synchronous meetings, individual conferences with facilitators, breakout rooms on specific topics, and interactive sessions with community artists. Participants also receive an Artful Writing classroom resource (including 20 reproductions and activities), practical approaches to integrate art and writing across curriculum, and time to plan their own implementation strategies. Breaks from computer screens will be built into each day.
