INTRODUCTION
Hello! Welcome to the UMD 2020-2021 SOPHE Collegiate Champion and Mentor page. The Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE) is a nonprofit, independent professional association that represents a diverse membership of nearly 4,000 health education professionals and students in the United States and 25 international countries. SOPHE works within multiple different settings such as schools, health care settings, and voluntary organizations just to name a few. On this page you will find a brief overview of what the SOPHE Collegiate Champion program is, an introduction of the 2020-2021 Collegiate Champion and Mentor at UMD, and a summary of the events we have hosted this year. Qualifications to become a SOPHE Collegiate Champion
- 2 years remaining at UMD.
- Good academic standing within the UMD Public Health Program.
- Become a National SOPHE Member.
- Pursuing a public health, community health, health education/promotion, health science, kinesiology or similar degree for the full academic year.
- Have a faculty advisor.

Champion responsibilities
- Share news and information about the field of health education/promotion.
- Promote professional and academic award opportunities for students.
- Host events on and around campus.
- Spread the word among students about the benefits of becoming a SOPHE member including networking opportunities, job openings specific to member skills, and support.
- Each champion serves a two year term. The second term, the Collegiate Champion becomes the Mentor.

Our projects this year
Nutrition Week 2021!
During the week of April 5th through April 9th, Amy and Ailee hosted a virtual Nutrition Week! Utilizing their social media platforms, they posted information that relates specifically to University of Minnesota Duluth students. On Wednesday the 7th, the UMD SOPHE CC's teamed up with the Public Health Student Group to host a virtual Cook With Us Class.
