ACR HomesEmployment, InternshipACR Homes provides care for people with disabilities in a group home setting throughout the Twin Cities. We are hiring students for our flexible Direct Care Professional position to work in our homes and care for our residents. Students receive paid training to prepare and pass medications, work with specialized medical equipment, perform daily therapies, and help with activities of daily living. In addition to that, Direct Care Professionals will enjoy fun activities with the residents and advocate for them on doctor appointments and in the community.

In addition to our direct care position, ACR Homes has a research based internship program that is available to anyone who is hired as a Direct Care Professional. It pairs hand-in-hand with the job, allowing the student to have two separate opportunities for their resume while with ACR Homes. The student would work with our internship coordinator to customize their experience to match their major and/or interests. Students who complete our 6 month internship program will receive a letter of recommendation for further schooling or a career level position.

In addition to our Direct Care Professional position, ACR Homes has career level positions available to be a Registered Nurse, an Licensed Practical Nurse, or Residential Supervisor (manager of a group home).

Camp KesemVolunteerKesem is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting children through and beyond a parent's cancer, primarily by fundraising to send kids to a FREE week-long summer camp. These kids often experience feelings of isolation from peers, low academic performance, depression as they are forced to take on adult roles in their lives.

Joining Camp Kesem at University of Minnesota means joining a group of passionate college students who volunteer their time as a counselor at camp for one week in the summer! During the school year, Kesem counselors have bonding events, fundraise together, and collectively volunteer at events.

ECC Scribe ProgramEmploymentAs a scribe with ECC, you will have the ability to work side-by-side with physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners, as well as numerous other medical staff. You will learn how to document a chart, master medical terminology, learn how to read lab values and radiology imaging, watch numerous patient encounters, and so much more. We have numerous emergency departments (ranging from urban to rural), outpatient clinics, and inpatient hospital settings where we staff scribes in the Twin Cities. EPPA Scribe ProgramEmployment As a medical scribe, pre-health students gain experience working side-by-side with a provider (MD, DO, PA) by creating and documenting the electronic medical records for each patient seen. They learn the importance of history taking in the medical field, enter the patient’s rooms with physicians, observe exams, and become familiar with the work flow, order entry, and the medical decision making of each provider. In addition to the clinical scribe experience, we offer education sessions, mock-interviews, company social-networking events, and volunteer opportunities. Full-time or Part-time employment positions offered with flexible student scheduling!

The majority of EPPA scribes are Pre-Med and Pre-PA students, however it is also an opportunity to learn how multiple medical teams work together and may benefit students interested in fields such as PT, OT, pharmacy, nursing, etc. Our scribe program serves providers at 18 different locations throughout the Twin-Cities metro with a vast array of programs, including multiple emergency departments, a level 1 trauma center, primary care, oncology, dermatology, and orthopedics.

Lillehei Heart Institute Summer Research Scholars ProgramResearchThe Lillehei Heart Institute offers annual summer research scholarships in basic science research related to cardiovascular disease. These highly competitive, prestigious scholarships are designed to expose highly qualified students to several disciplines within cardiovascular disease research and its clinical applications. Each scholar will be supported by a research scholarship. The major focus will be intensive basic or clinical research as each scholar will be assigned a laboratory and a faculty mentor. Over 100 volunteers, mostly students from colleges and universities in the Twin Cities, serve on the UM EMS team. Volunteers are certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs).
