Recap: CSE x Career Center Event

On October 22nd, CSE Ambassadors hosted a virtual career prep event in collaboration with the CSE Career Center. Two of the Peer Assistants, James and Natalie, from the CSE Career Center presented on different strategies to obtain jobs and internships. Thanks to the people who attended the event in the midst of midterm season -- one was a lucky winner of a gift card of their choice! (Participants with their cameras off not shown.)

If you couldn't make it and find yourself on the hunt for a job/internship, check out the presentation recording below!

Destressor With a Professor

CSEA's "Destressor with a Professor" is an annual event in which CSE Professors from various departments can interact with students in an informal setting. This provides a great opportunity for students to talk with professors about research, get advice on careers in STEM, and see what professors are like outside of the classroom. Fill out this form to let us know who you would like to see at this event!

Official Statement on Current Events

As representatives of this community, the officers of CSE Ambassadors feel that we cannot be silent about current events and issues.

We hope to create a community where everyone feels welcome, safe, and valued. We are fortunate to have colleagues, mentors/mentees, peers, and friends that come from all over the world. Diversity is what helps us thrive, and we must commit to supporting it. It follows that we support the decision to rescind the ICE policy regarding international students and online learning. In doing so, we acknowledge the sacrifices international students have made for their education, as well as the importance of their presence in our community.

Our support extends to the Black community. CSE Ambassadors stands in solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement. Too many have lost their lives at the hands of police brutality: George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Philando Castille, Tamir Rice, and countless others. Unfortunately, police brutality is only part of the systemic injustice and racism present in our society. We must continue advocating for change and doing our part in the fight for justice and equality. Doing your part can be as simple as educating yourself, having important conversations with loved ones, and signing petitions. Explore the following resources to see the various ways in which you can contribute!

During this period of unrest, local businesses have also been negatively impacted. Please consider donating your time and resources to rebuilding the community. Links to do so are provided below.

In the midst of everything that is going on, the COVID-19 pandemic continues around us. We urge you to follow COVID-19 precautions. Remember to diligently wash your hands, wear masks, and practice social distancing. Keep yourself and those around you healthy!
