CSE Technical GPA Information

The Technical Grade Point Average (Technical GPA) is calculated using your University of Minnesota - Twin Cities grades in the courses listed below.

The Technical GPA is comprised only of courses taken at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. An unbracketed Technical GPA is used in the admission to the major process, meaning that all attempts at a course (which resulted in a letter grade of A-F) are factored into the GPA. Courses taken at other institutions may fulfill degree requirements; however, they will not be included in the Technical GPA calculation.

Although grades of N do not normally factor into a student's Technical GPA, multiple N grades may be considered when reviewing an applicant's record to determine likelihood of progress towards a degree.

If there are space constraints within a major, all Technical GPAs of applicants for that major may be recalculated in a standardized way (i.e. all S grades may be calculated as Cs, all N grades may be calculated as Fs) to ensure a fair and equitable review of all applicants in the review process.

Your Technical GPA is available on-line by using the View Your Technical GPA and other records link on the Main Menu page of the CSE On-Line Advising System.
