Extension Core Technology Skills

Welcome

Every position in Extension requires use of technology.  This self-directed course, run by Extension Learning Technologies introduces you to what we consider core technology skills, or minimum skills required for excellent performance, for all Extension personnel. The skills relate to use of computers, technology literacy, attitude, and awareness.

The goal of the core technology skills is to provide directions for new areas of learning and growth, assist personnel and supervisors to identify any knowledge gaps, and identify areas where training is necessary.

Getting started

The course is open and available for anyone to work through and participate in at their own pace. Each core skill includes a learning resource link. Participate by reading through the content and completing each of the skills in your own time. We recommend spending a little time each week to build up and expand your skills.

Suggestions for using this course

As a new Extension employee: Use this course to better understand the tools you will use every day that are supported by the University and Extension and identify areas where you may want to focus your initial tech training.

As a self review checklist:  Review and check off what you already know and identify any knowledge gaps to include in your yearly goals.

As a supervisor: Remind employees to review these skills on their own or review it together to identify areas where additional training is necessary.
