Let's get visual

Sketchnote made by Rebecca Moss at a presentation by the Visual Sisterhood, a collective of consultants who leverage visuals in their work.

These resources can be used to support workshops that are designed to improve attendees’ use of visuals in organizing, presenting and understanding information so that they are able to retain more information, improve their communication style and more deeply engage audiences.

What is Sketchnoting?

Sketchnoting is a technique used for visual note-taking. It can be performed simply using markers and paper, or digitally using tablet and stylus.

Do I need artistic talent to make good Sketchnotes?

Not at all! Sketchnotes vary widely in scope, style and complexity. Leave your inner perfectionist at the door and enjoy the creativity.

How can sketchnoting benefit my daily work?

    • Drawing is known to engage the right side of your brain.

    • Research suggests sketching can help you to more effectively retain information.

    • Many people are visual learners, so supplementing text with sketchnotes can help your message to reach a wider audience.

    • After an event, you can even share your sketchnote with the presenter or your colleagues to confirm shared understanding of the topic.
