Open Rivers: Rethinking Water, Place & Community is an open-access digital journal of public scholarship that recognizes waters, and the landscapes around them, as spaces for timely and critical conversations about the relationships between ecological systems and social systems and focuses on questions of environmental justice and equity and their opposites: environmental injustices, inequities, and racism. Including the work of engaged thinkers writing from multiple knowledge bases, Open Rivers addresses the interests of a broad interdisciplinary, cross-sector audience.
For inclusion in upcoming issues, we are asking how we might improve and create sustainable, equitable water futures by asking the following question: What knowledges, practices, and perspectives do we need in order to create the water futures we imagine and want?
Please share your short response (approximately 500 words) to this question and it may be included in future issues of Open Rivers. We will edit your submission and reach out to you to complete our editorial and production processes.
If you have any questions, please contact Laurie Moberg, Managing Editor for Open Rivers, at
