Each day, these sessions will be live via Zoom from 7:00pm-8:00pm Monday March 8th - Saturday March 13th. Each session is FREE. Sessions will be recorded and sent to all registrants after the events have concluded.

Monday March 8th: Cold Hardy Fruits with Bernis Ingvaldson

Looking to add fruit to your garden? Honeberries, dwarf sour cherries, saskatoons, currants, aronia, goji, elderberry, and seaberry are all grown in zone 3 at the Honeyberry Farm. This class will give you a whirlwind introduction to these delicious fruits.

Bernis and her husband Jim Ingvaldson are owners of the Honeyberry Farm at Bagley, MN. They also operate       HoneyberryUSA, an online mail order nursery specializing in cold hardy small fruits.

Tuesday March 9th: Sweet Potatoes with John Stone

Not just for Southern gardeners, we can grow great sweet potatoes here in Minnesota. John will cover his best successes and failures in growing these delicious tubers.

John is a Douglas County Master Gardener as well as an advisor for the State Master Gardener program. John lives near Alexandria where he has been known to grow sweet potatoes the size of footballs.

Wednesday March 10th: New Perennials with Jodi and Julie of Jean's the Right Plant Place

Perennials have it all—interesting colors, textures, and differing bloom times.  Every year there are many new varieties available! This session we’ll show a sampling of new varieties for 2021 and show off some older varieties that merit a second look.

Julie and Jodi are co-owners of Jean’s the Right Plant Place in Perham, MN.

Thursday March 11th: Annuals with Joe Bergeson of Bergeson's Nursery

Learn how to turn your yard into an explosion of color with ground prep, fertilizer, and water with a minimum  effort and maximum results. Learn about new and exciting annuals as well as the most dependable varieties to use in various situations.

Joe Bergeson is the third generation owner of Bergeson's Nursery in Fertile, MN. Joe and his wife Kae design and plant their lovely three-acre display gardens each year.  His passion is breeding roses.

Friday March 12th: My Favorite Shrubs with Roger Walvatne

Lakes Country Garden’s Roger Walvatne takes you through his favorite and best performing shrubs for Northwestern Minnesota.

Roger is a member of the East Otter Tail Master Gardeners and manager of Lake Country Gardens on Otter Tail Lake for 25+ years, specializing in shrubs and trees.

Saturday March 13th: Starting Seeds Indoors with Don Kinzler of NDSU and the Fargo Forum

Tips for increased success when starting your flower and vegetable plants from seeds indoors.

A lifelong gardener, Don is the NDSU Extension Horticulturist for Cass County ND. He and his wife operated a garden center in Fargo for 25 years, is the garden columnist with Forum newspapers, and hosts WDAY's Lawn and Garden Radio.
