There is no question that regular soil sampling to determine the fertility of a field is essential. Guiding fertilizer applications based on soil test results ensures adequate nutrient availability for the crop and minimizes overapplication of fertilizers, which can damage the environment and reduce your return on the investment. Given the relatively low cost of analysis compared to fertilizer cost, taking soil samples is one of the most profitable decisions you can make, but it is important to collect the samples correctly.
