Hooten finished off a spectacular 2024 season

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Gophers senior Mya Hooten finished her 2024 season by earning a 9.875 on vault at the 2024 NCAA Gymnastics Championships on Thursday night. The score placed her in a tie for 17th in the event, narrowly missing out on what would have been her third career NCAA Second Team All-American honor on vault.

Team-wise, No. 2 LSU (198.1125), No. 3 California (197.7125), No. 4 Florida (197.8750) and No. 5 Utah (197.9375) advanced to the Final Four, which will take place on Saturday, April 20 at 3 p.m. CT at Dickies Arena. ABC will provide television coverage.

The lone Golden Gopher to qualify for nationals as an individual, Hooten capped off a magical senior season in the Maroon and Gold. In 2024 she won a career-high 20 event titles, including 10 on floor, seven on vault and three on bars.

The AAI Award Nominee was named a WCGA First Team All-American on Floor and Vault in the same season for the first time in her career. A First Team All-Big Ten selection, she also made the Big Ten All-Championships Team after tying for Big Ten Individual titles on vault, uneven bars and floor at the conference championships.

She was named Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week five times this season, bringing her career total to 11. The Academic All-Big Ten honoree nailed three perfect 10s on the floor this year, making that nine for her career. Mya averaged 9.885 on vault, 9.717 on bars and 9.945 on the floor this season, competing in all 14 meets.

She went 9.900-or-better seven times on vault, five times on bars and 10 times on the floor. Hooten also won her second career regional title with a 9.975 vault on April 4 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

As a team, Minnesota (20-11, 6-3 Big Ten) finished second at the Big Ten Championships and made the NCAA Regional Finals for the third time in the last four seasons. Their No. 12 final ranking was the highest finish of any Big Ten team.
