Hooten Completes Career with Second Team All-America Honors

Mya earned a 9.8875 in her final floor routine

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Gophers fifth-year senior Mya Hooten finished her collegiate career on Thursday afternoon at the 2025 NCAA Gymnastics Championships. She scored a 9.8875 on the floor, placing tied for fifth out of all floor competitors during session I. Hooten earned NCAA Championships Second Team All-America honors with her performance, her 13th career All-America honor.

Hooten competed with No. 7 Missouri (197.300), who finished 2nd in session I, advancing to their first national championships in program history. No. 2 Oklahoma (197.550) also advaned to the championship round, which will take place on Saturday, April 19 at 2 p.m. on ABC. No. 3 Florida (197.200) and No. 8 Alabama (196.825) saw their seasons come to an end.

In the night session, No. 4 Utah (197.7625) and No. 5 UCLA (197.7375) advanced to the finals while No. 1 LSU (197.5250) and No. 8 Michigan State (197.3625) ended their 2025 seasons.

The lone Golden Gopher to qualify for nationals as an individual, Hooten capped off a sensational in the Maroon and Gold. In 2025, she won 16 event titles, including 10 on floor in 15 meets. She won four vault and two bars event titles as well.

The two-time AAI Award Nominee finishes her time at Minnesota with 13 All-America honors, including eight from the WCGA and five from the NCAA Championships. She is two-time First Team NCAA Championships All-American on floor (2021 and 2022) and now a Second Team NCAA Championships All-American. 

She finishes her time in Dinkytown as a six-time Big Ten Champion, four-time First Team All-Big Ten and Big Ten All-Championships honoree, a 13-time Big Ten Event Specialist of the Week, four-time Academic All-Big Ten selection and a 2024 First Team CSC Academic All-American.

Hooten was the first ever Golden Gopher to earn a 'Perfect 10' on the floor, and she did so nine times. Other honors taken home during her career include one Big Ten Gymnast of the Week award, two WCGA Scholastic All-American nods and twice being named a Big Ten Gymnast to Watch.
