Livestock Quality Assurance & Ethics Training Opportunities
Livestock Quality Assurance & Ethics (LQA&E) training helps youth provide excellent care for their animals and ensure a high level of food safety to consumers. This training was designed to enhance the educational experience of 4-H animal science projects.
LQA&E training is required for all state fair exhibitors. Youth must provide the Extension Office with proof of the completed training by livestock check-in day at the Wabasha County Fair to be eligible for a State Fair trip. Youth may complete an in-person training which is good for three fair seasons or the online YQCA (Youth for the Quality Care of Animals) training which is valid for one fair season.
You will be contacted by the Extension Office if your current LQA&E training will have expired by the 2024 county fair (or if you haven't previously taken it).
In-person opportunities:
Have fun, meet new friends and explore new things at 4-H Regional Camp at Whitewater State Park! Campers will spend three days and two nights at camp enjoying swimming, hiking, nature activities, games, the arts, music, crafts, educational programs, great food, cabin life, reflective campfires and more! You don’t want to miss 4-H Regional Camp this summer! Camp is open to all youth, so invite your friends to join!
Cost: $110.00/camper. Registration fee includes meals and lodging for three days/two nights, supplies, water bottle, and a camp t-shirt. Wabasha County 4-H will cover $75 of the registration fee.
