The overarching goal of my professional activities is to improve the educational experiences and outcomes of children and youth from minoritized backgrounds. I concentrate on issues of equity and social justice in education, particularly those affecting children and youth with or at-risk for educational disability. My current interests include:

  • patterns and predictors of educational disability among children from racially and linguistically minoritized backgrounds

  • disparities in the educational treatment and outcomes of students with and at-risk for disabilities

  • professional issues in ethics, law, and effectiveness of educational and school psychological services provided to traditionally marginalized groups/communities

I am the Birkmaier Education Leadership Professor of Educational Psychology and Coordinator of the School Psychology Program at the University of Minnesota. I completed my training at Arizona State University and am a licensed psychologist.
