Teaching faculty position (non-tenure-track)

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities seeks candidates for a non-tenure-track teaching faculty position. The appointment is expected to be at the teaching assistant professor level, but in exceptional cases applicants may be considered for appointment as a teaching associate professor.

This position will teach courses in undergraduate and mixed undergraduate-graduate courses in the area of power/energy, as well as some core courses. This position will also be involved in curriculum development and improvement, and related service.

Required qualifications

  • Earned doctorate or equivalent foreign degree in an appropriate discipline is required at the time of appointment. It is anticipated that the appointment will begin fall 2024.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach university-level engineering courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels. The applicant’s experience must demonstrate a strong potential to enhance the department’s teaching mission.
  • Ability to teach effectively to a diverse group of students. 

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience as a lead instructor in one or more university-level engineering courses
  • Industry experience that could be brought into the classroom

Tenure-track faculty position in power electronics

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Minnesota Twin Cities invites applications in the area of power electronics. Both tenured and tenure-track candidates with knowledge and expertise in hardware design, modeling, and contemporary control and optimization paradigms for power electronics are of particular interest. 

Successful candidates will have outstanding academic and research records and are expected to establish a vigorous, funded research program, teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and be involved in service to the university and the profession. An earned doctorate or equivalent foreign degree in an appropriate discipline is required at the time of appointment. It is anticipated that the appointment will begin fall 2024.
