ASA Executive Board Applications 2022/23
Thank you for your interest in applying to be an Arab Student Association board member!
The Arab Student Association (ASA) is a non-political student organization whose objective is to create an awareness of the different Arab cultures through the sponsoring of Arab social and cultural activities. Our mission is to spread knowledge and generate an understanding of these cultures and promote cross-Arabic dialogues and the exchange of cultural ideas.
DUE DATES:
President and Vice President Applications are Due on April 25th,2022
Secretary and Treasurer Applications are Due on May 2nd,2022
This application is valid for the following positions:
- President
- Vice President
- Secretary
- Treasurer
President:
- Responsible for coordination between board members and overseeing the overall direction of ASA.
- Creating a safe and welcoming environment for all board members and group members
- Creating agendas for the year
- Creating and facilitating weekly board meetings
- Maintain contact and affairs with other student groups and organizations.
Vice president:
- Creating a safe and welcoming environment for all board members and group members
- Facilitating monthly group meetings (open to all ASA participants)
- Reporting back on group meetings to include/implement changes
- Help the president oversee all other positions
Secretary:
- Take detailed minutes at all the meetings (general and board).
- Maintain and check email and announcements.
- Create and send out a weekly newsletter
- Keep meetings on track, and within the allotted time.
- Type up documents as needed for the Board.
- Be responsible for all organization correspondence and keep copies of all correspondence on file.
- In charge of keeping the google drive and the Trello constantly updates
- Respond to phone calls, messages, emails.. etc

Treasurer:
- Handles all financial affairs and budgeting of the organization.
- Maintain a record of expenses, spending, donations, sales, etc.
- Issue checks for approved reimbursement and contracts.
- Balance checkbook against bank statements.
- Responsible for writing grants and securing funds for annual events
- Responsible for access to the bank account, signing checks and using cards.
