Food and Bioproducts Engineering Organization Interest Form
Please fill out the information below if you are interested in being on the email list for the Food and Bioproducts Engineering Organization (FaBEO)! We send out a weekly email on Sundays with our meeting links and projects updates. We are always open to new members! Here is a quick description of our group:
We are a project-based group in the Department of Bioproducts and Biosystems Engineering that welcomes students from all majors. We typically work on two sustainability-based projects each year, but this year we will be offering some smaller projects, many of which can be done virtually. Some of our small projects this year are:
• Beeswax food wraps
• Buckthorn card making
• Making bioplastics from cornstarch
• Life cycle assessments
• Growing mushrooms out of coffee grounds
• Tinkercad practice and 3D printing
• Arduino practice
• Hydroponic salad table
Some of our larger projects in progress are:
• Designing an at home industrial grade composter for breaking down PLA
• Assessing the impacts of insulating homes in MN
We meet every Monday at 5:15 pm on Zoom. Each meeting we bring in alumni and industry professionals as speakers from possible BBE-related career paths. We also have outreach and professional development opportunities, including funded attendance to related conferences.
