The (Formal) Approaches to South Asian Languages conference is the main venue in North America for discussion of theoretical and theory-driven research in South Asian linguistics.

The 11th (F)ASAL will be held virtually and synchronously, hosted by the Institute of Linguistics at the University of Minnesota, on March 26th-28th, 2021. As the community of South Asianist linguists expands and evolves over time, it would like to reach out to researchers that do high-quality linguistic study of any South Asian language adopting a wide range of methodologies.

This year's (F)ASAL will feature one half-day special session honoring the late Dr. Rahul Balusu, in addition to two days of general sessions. Please see the Call for Papers page on this website or on Easychair for more information on the special and main sessions.
