Gophers Set for NCAA Quarterfinal

3/10/2019 8:12:00 PM | Women's Hockey

Minnesota will host Princeton in the NCAA quarterfinal after earning an at-large bid into the 2019 NCAA tournament.

MINNEAPOLIS - The No. 2 seed Golden Gopher women's hockey team will face Princeton in the NCAA quarterfinal round as the NCAA unveiled the eight-team National Collegiate Women's Ice Hockey Championship bracket Sunday evening.

Minnesota and Princeton will face off at 4 p.m. CT Saturday at Ridder Arena, and tickets go on sale to the public at 9 a.m. CT Tuesday. A pre-sale for Gopher Score members begins at 9 a.m. CT Monday.

After posting a runner-up finish in the WCHA postseason tournament, Minnesota is making its 12th-straight and 17th overall appearance in the NCAA postseason. The 2019 WCHA regular-season champion Gophers have won four of the last seven national championships, and Minnesota has only missed the NCAA tournament twice in its 19-year history.

Syracuse (CHA), Clarkson (ECAC Hockey), Northeastern (Hockey East), and Wisconsin (WCHA) earned the four automatic bids by winning their respective conference tournaments while Minnesota, Princeton, Cornell, and Boston College earned at-large bids.
