OVPR COVID-19 Rapid Response Grants
Release Date: Funding available starting March 19, 2020

Close Date: Funds available until they are expended or May 31, 2020, whichever is earlier

Purpose: To catalyze and energize small-scale research projects designed to address and mitigate the COVID-19 virus and risk associated with the COVID-19 virus to include cascading impacts in communities. The primary focus of the OVPR COVID-19 Rapid Response Grants is to fund research that informs near real-time decision making for professionals tasked with making operational response decisions. Researchers outside of the school of medicine are strongly encouraged to apply. Medical researchers are encouraged to consider OACA opportunities.

Award Amount: $5,000 - $10,000 (total OVPR budget is $100,000)

Eligibility: The applicant(s) must be full time faculty or P&A researcher at the University of Minnesota. OVPR will match funds for applicants coming from a single college or center (up to $5,000); investigators, deans and directors are responsible for the other matching funds. OVPR will fully fund applications with teams from more than one college or across centers  (up to $10,000). Start-up, department, center and other such funds may be added/used as investigators wish. So as to maximize the number of projects on this important topic, we encourage investigators to request the smallest amount a study requires.

Grant Duration: 12 months (no extensions)

Eligible Expenses:
Salary support for research staff, postdocs, students, and other trainees;
University-based core and other support services; and
The purchase of supplies.

Application Process: This is an expedited application process; the full application is submitted via the form below.
