3/11/2020 4:42:00 PM | Gymnastics

Minnesota is preparing for their biggest meet in program history this Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT. Minnesota hosts No. 1 Oklahoma in their first ever regular season sell out in program history. The sellout crowd will shatter the previous attendance record and will be televised on the Big Ten Network.

The Gophers will honor their five seniors immediately after the meet. Minnesota has five seniors that will compete for the last time in Maturi Pavilion: Ivy Lu, Mary Korlin-Downs, Paige Williams, Kristen Quaglia and Casey Betts.

Last Time Out
Minnesota recorded numerous record performances this past weekend at their meet against NC State, highlighted by a perfect 10 and the second highest team score in program history (197.625).

The duo of Ona Loper and Lexy Ramler stunned the Big Ten, putting up the two highest all-around scores in the conference. Tiarre Sales finished third in the all-around with a career-high 39.400.

Loper made history by recording her first perfect 10 and the fourth perfect 10 on vault. Her 10 on vault was one of two career-highs for herself. She notched another personal best in the all-around with a 39.625 and tied her career-high on beam with a 9.925.

Ramler set a new season-high in the all-around with a 39.675, the second highest score  all-time. She now owns the three highest all-around scores in program history (tied for second with Lindsay Mable). The junior almost notched a perfect 10 on beam (9.975) and vault (9.950), having one 10 thrown by a judge on each event.

As a team they had 10 new career-highs set, 11 podium finishes and four event titles. They recorded a season-high on vault with a 49.475 to rank No. 6 all-time, tied for No. 7 all-time on bars with a 49.425 and recorded the No. 4 beam (49.550) score all-time.

Gophers in the Rankings
Minnesota reclaimed their spot in the top-10 coming in at No. 10 and remain in the top-20 on vault (No. 16), bars (No. 8), beam (No. 4) and floor (No. 19).

Ramler is No. 8 in the all-around, No. 1 on beam and No. 6 on bars. Loper is tied for 18th on vault and remains in the top-15 overall coming in at No. 12. Lu is tied for 19th on bars and is No. 22 on beam.

B1G Rankings
Minnesota remains second in the Big Ten Standings with Michigan at No. 1. The Gophers are second in the conference on Road To Nationals, averaging 196.914 with a NQS of 197.035. Michigan is averaging 197.128 and has a NQS of 197.410.

The Maroon and Gold are ranked No. 3 on floor (49.255 NQS), No. 1 on beam (49.470 NQS), tied for first with Michigan on bars(49.315 NQS) and No. 3 on vault (49.165 NQS).

Record Setting Gophers
Minnesota put up the second highest team score all-time of 197.625. The program record is 197.700, set back in March of 2004. The Gophers also had record performances on:

Vault: 49.475 - sixth all-time
Bars: 49.425 - seventh all-time
Beam: 49.550 - fourth all-time

So far this season, the team has recorded three top-10 performances on bars, with a season-high of 49.500, five on beam, one on vault and three for team score.

In their first meet of the season, Minnesota posted their best opening meet team score since women's gymnastics became an NCAA sport in 1982, recording 196.475 points at Denver.

Beam Queens
Minnesota comes in at No. 4 in the nation on beam for the third straight week. The Gophers have been the No.1 team on beam twice this season and still hold one of the highest scores among all teams with a 49.700.

The beam lineup now owns four of the top five beam scores all-time in program history. Minnesota most recently put up the fourth highest score all-time with a 49.550 at NC State.

The Gophers posted the fourth highest score on beam against Nebraska with a 49.500. At Ohio State, Minnesota recorded a 49.600 for the third highest score in program history, with four Gophers scoring a 9.925 or higher.

Earlier this season, Ramler became the third Gopher in program history to record a perfect 10 on beam at the Rutgers quad meet, joining Ivy Lu and Hanna Nordquist to accomplish this.

In the first home meet of the season, the junior accomplished something no Gopher gymnast had ever done - record a perfect 10 in Maturi Pavilion. She scored her second perfect 10 in two weeks in front of her home crowd. No Gopher has ever recorded multiple perfect 10s, on any event, during their time at Minnesota. Ramler is also the only gymnast in the nation to have multiple perfect 10s on beam so far this season.
