The "Semester-at-a-Glance" calendar is an overview, and not to be used for a lot of detail. At the beginning of the semester, print out the Semester-at-a-Glance calendar, then gather the syllabi from all of your courses and use them to mark on it when all of your exams, papers, major projects, etc. are scheduled. Add in any personal plans that could disrupt your study schedule, like weekend travel, and you will be able to spot the potential stress points in your semester well in advance and plan for them. Keep it in a place you will reference often, like on the wall in the place where you study, or attached to the inside of a notebook cover. Update it as necessary, and use it to backward plan so the choke points don't catch you off guard and stress you out.

Example:
The weekly view calendar accommodates more detail. This is where you build in hour-by-hour activities and plan for commitments in all facets of your life - school, work, recreation, etc. Inflexible commitments go in first, like classes and work shifts. Next, place in things that must be done but that have flexible timing, like working out, doing laundry, and meeting with a tutor. The last things to go in are the things that can be rescheduled if necessary, like social activities and shopping.
