R Resources

These resources will help you use the statistical package R for all the methods described in the text.

• If you are new to the statistical language R, here are instructions on getting and installing R on your computer.
• Get and install the alr4 package for R that includes all the data discussed in the book.
  
• View alrprimer.pdf, Primer for Applied Linear Regression Using R, that shows you how to use the methods in the text in R. You can also save the Primer on your computer, or you can access the Primer from within R.
• View alrsolutions.pdf, solutions to odd-numbered homework problems.
• The book An R Companion to Applied Regression is a comprehensive presentation for almost everything using R for the material in Applied Linear Regression. The first chapter provides an introduction to using R for regression, and you can get "Chapter 1 - Getting Started with R" from the publisher's website for free.

Other Resources

• The bibliography is available on-line, with clickable links.
• For readers not using R, the data files are available as comma-separated value (.csv) text files and combined into a zip file.
• A solutions manual for all problems in the book is available to instructors; contact  sandy@umn.edu
